There can never be enough good surprises. It is refreshing and rewarding to be on the receiving end of a pleasant, unexpected surprise.
With all gifts it is always a good reminder that ‘it’s the thought that counts’, remembering to celebrate someone’s special occasion is really important, very valuable and highly memorable. Choosing to surprise someone with someone lovely, unexpected and out of the blue is perhaps even more amazing simply because of the added surprise element. In either case it is very rarely the cost of the gift that has the impact, it is usually always the thoughtfulness of the gift, the relevance and meaning of the gift to the person receiving it.
Over the years I’ve been blessed with many beautiful gifts from friends and family close to me. The most recent example I have of a good surprise is also linked to Bella. I got Bella at the end of April which was a couple of weeks before Mothers Day. This year one of my closest and dearest friends Wendy gave birth to a little girl (her first child) called Zoe just before Mothers Day. I went to visit Wendy and Zoe and was one of the many welcoming this beautiful little girl into the world. I knew that Wendy was celebrating her first Mother’s Day and I was excited to be able to text her on the day wishing her a very happy 1st Mother’s Day.
Imagine my surprise when I found a Mother’s Day card in my letterbox from Bella (my cat). Now I could recognise Wendy’s writing so I knew that she had sent me this cute card, that had a photo on the cover almost identical to my kitten and she had written in the card as though she was Bella, thanking me for giving her a wonderful home and signing the card with a paw print.
I was extremely touched by the card for many reasons. Receiving it was such a sweet surprise, that it may me smile every time I thought about it for days afterwards. The other major reason it was such a beautiful gift was that I knew Wendy had just become a new Mother and that she has just had Zoe a few days before experiencing her first Mother’s Day, so to think that my wonderful friend made time in the midst of all of this to find that card and send me something to make me feel special meant more than I can say.
What could you do today to give someone you care about a simple and amazing surprise?
What have you received that has made you light up with happiness because it was simple & perfect?
With Father’s Day coming up is there something unique and special that you could give your Dad to celebrate him and make him feel special?
Best wishes,
Kyla
